Kate Whichard

Kate grew up in northeastern North Carolina. Around the age of 8, she was introduced to natural medicine by her mother and grandmother. She loved taking elderberry syrup and learning about different natural remedies. She studied biology at UNC Wilmington with the dream of becoming a naturopathic doctor. During this time, she was working in the wellness department at the local co-op. This is when she fell in love with herbalism. She decided to take time off from school to pursue this passion. During her time off, Kate completed a permaculture course as well as a holistic herbalism course. Herbalism is what brought her to Asheville. She then attended Warren Wilson College for her last two years of school and worked on the herb crew where they grew, processed and made medicine from the many herbs that grow in this region. Kate is very passionate about connecting with the natural world and does so through gardening, foraging and making herbal remedies. She loves sharing this passion with others!
