25 minutes west of Asheville
This location is not on any GPS, Google Maps will NOT get you all the way there, and you will very likely lose signal. So load this Google map now and save these directions!
Once you get the the point on the Google map, see “After crossing the bridge…” below.
From Asheville, take I-240 West. Keep right at the fork to continue on I-240 West / I-26 East and follow signs for Interstate 240 W/Interstate 26 E/Interstate 40.
In 3 miles, take exit 31B to merge onto I-40 West toward Canton/Knoxville. In another 1.7 miles, take exit 44 for US-19/US-23
At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Smoky Park Highway. Travel three miles to 151/Pisgah Highway (with a Shell station on your left). Turn left and travel 2.5 miles, going over one large hill and then starting to climb the next. Turn left onto Lower Glady Fork Road (the sign may be missing).
Wind down about half a mile until you see a bridge on your right. This is Upper Glady Fork Road, but the sign is also probably gone. Turn right and immediately:
After crossing the bridge, make a hard left onto Sunray Cove (probably no sign). Go .4 miles, staying to the left. The road will quickly turn to gravel, then you will pass the ʺHominy Valley Wildlife Clubʺ on your left. At .2 mile, you will pass a driveway marked “Messer” on your right, then a driveway marked “79,” then the road will curve to the left. Park in the field on the left. If you go too far, the road will go uphill and dead end at a house on the right and a sign saying “98”on the left.
Your guide will meet you in the parking area.
