For a Google map from Asheville, click on the link above. If you enter the address yourself, Google (and probably any other GPS) will take you on a different, more problematic route, namely, on Woodland Drive to Camp Road. If so, if the gate is open, ignore the “Private Property” sign.
Also keep in mind you may not have cell service once you leave the interstate, so please keep these directions handy just in case. If you plan to taxi, be sure to arrange your pickup ahead of time.
From Asheville, take 240E to I-40E toward Statesville. In 6.2 miles, take exit 59 for Swannanoa.
As you exit the highway, turn left onto Patton Cove Road, then right onto US-70E. In .3 miles, take a left onto Whitson Ave, then turn right onto Old US Hwy 70. In 1.8 miles, turn left onto Lake Eden Rd, then take the second left onto Clover Lane (at the signs for The North Carolina State Veterans Home and The North Carolina Forest Service).
Drive .5 mile to the parking area on the left, just before a two-story brown building on the right with a small sign saying “Mountain View Lodge.”
