25 minutes east of downtown Asheville
Keep in mind you may not have cell/GPS service once you leave the interstate, so please save these directions.
From Asheville, take I-240 East to I-40 East.
In 11 miles take exit 64 for Black Mountain. Turn left off the ramp onto Route 9 north and go two and a half miles. You will enter the gate for Montreat, and the road will become Assembly Drive. Go .9 mile, and after a park on the right, turn right onto Lookout Road. If you pass a lake on the right, you’ve gone too far. Go .6 mile, passing the chapel and going up a hill. Turn into one of the two small primitive parking areas on the right. If the road turns to gravel, you’ve just missed them. You can park in either lot. If they look full, have someone hop out and check before you go in. If necessary, park on the road instead.
