IF YOU USE GPS, MAKE SURE IT GOES TO THIS LOCATION.
Also make sure you have enough time to get there.
Our outing will be at Three Baskets, about 30 minutes east of downtown Asheville; see directions and Googlemap below. Do not rely on your GPS until you make sure it matches these directions or you will very likely get lost. Also keep in mind that once you leave the interstate, you will probably NOT have cell phone signal. You may not have GPS reception either. So make sure you print or save these directions beforehand and follow them precisely.
These directions are from central Asheville, specifically, from Greenlife Grocery (our local Whole Foods). We recommend buying snacks or even a picnic lunch for after the tour, as well as “using the facilities” while you’re there.
Finally, remember that if you’re planning to bring some of our “catch of the day” to one of our partner restaurants, you MUST make a special reservation (see here). See you in the woods!
581 Morgan Hill Rd, Fairview NC
Head south on Merrimon Avenue towards downtown for 2/10 of a mile and turn left onto I-240 East. Take exit 9 for Blue Ridge Parkway/Bat Cave/Fairview. Merge onto Hwy 74A/Charlotte Highway towards Fairview.
Stay on 74A for about 4.1 miles then take a left onto Old Fort Road (Wright and Son Stoneworks is on your left at the junction). Drive 8 miles on Old Fort Rd to Flat Creek Rd (at this intersection is the Garren Creek Fire/rescue station #23).
Turn right onto Flat Creek Road, and follow for 2.5 miles. (Flat Creek Rd turns into Morgan Hill Rd at Garren Creek Lane- just bear slight left staying on Flat Creek Rd/Morgan Hill Rd until you come to #581 on the right). There is a large sign saying “Three Baskets /581 Morgan Hill Rd.”
Turn right at the sign and drive about 20 feet and cross a wooden bridge. Please park on the right near the driveway, where your guide will meet you.
