Hawk & Ivy
IF YOU USE GPS, MAKE SURE IT GOES TO THIS LOCATION.
Also make sure you have enough time to get there.
Our outing will be at Hawk & Ivy Bed and Breakfast about 25 minutes north of downtown Asheville. Do not rely on your GPS until you make sure it matches these directions or you will very likely get lost. Also keep in mind that once you leave the interstate, you will probably NOT have cell phone signal. You may not have GPS reception either. So make sure you print or save these directions beforehand and follow them precisely.
These directions are from central Asheville, specifically, from Greenlife Grocery (our local Whole Foods). We recommend buying snacks or even a picnic lunch for after the tour, as well as “using the facilities” while you’re there. There will also be a bathroom available on site.
Finally, if you’re planning to bring some of our “catch of the day” to one of our partner restaurants, you MUST make a special reservation (see here).
133 North Fork Road, Barnardsville, NC 28709
From Greenlife Grocery, head south on Merrimon Ave towards Orange Street. Take I-240W about a tenth of a mile to 19-23N/I-26W (north) towards Weaverville. In about ten miles (with the exit numbers decreasing), take exit 15 (NC 197 towards Jupiter/Barnardsville). Turn right onto NC 197N/Barnardsville Highway.
In 6.6 miles, after passing through the small “main street” of Barnardsville with the post office, the B&B will be the large green house on your right with the small black and white sign that says, “The Hawk and Ivy”, then look to our left directly across from the inn and park in the field on the left (across the road from the green house.) There is a sign here that says “park”. Your guide will meet you there.
