IF YOU USE GPS, MAKE SURE IT GOES TO THIS LOCATION.
Also make sure you have enough time to get there.
Our outing will begin at Ledford Branch Parking Lot in Bent Creek Recreational Area, about 15 minutes southwest of downtown Asheville; see directions from Asheville below. Do not rely on your GPS until you make sure it matches these directions or you will very likely get lost. Also keep in mind that once you leave the interstate, you will probably NOT have cell phone signal. You may not have GPS reception either. So make sure you print or save these directions beforehand and follow them precisely.
These directions are from central Asheville, specifically, from Greenlife Grocery (our local Whole Foods). We recommend buying snacks or even a picnic lunch for after the tour, as well as “using the facilities” while you’re there.
Finally, if you’re planning to bring some of our “catch of the day” to one of our partner restaurants, you MUST make a special reservation (see here). See you in the woods!
From Asheville, take I-26 East to Exit 33 (NC 191/Brevard Road). Take a left at the light to head toward the Blue Ridge Parkway, following 191S for 2.1 miles. Take the right onto Bent Creek Ranch Rd (at the light with a brown sign on the right for Lake Powatan across from a church) . If you reach the turn on your right for the Arboretum and the parkway, you’ve gone too far.
Go 0.3 miles on Bent Creek Ranch Road and bear left at the apartments onto Wesley Branch Rd for 1.2 miles. After you pass the Bent Creek kiosk turn right towards Ledford Branch in about a mile and the parking area will be on the right.
