IF YOU USE GPS, MAKE SURE IT GOES TO THIS LOCATION.
Also make sure you have enough time to get there.
Our outing will be at Laurel River, about 35 minutes northwest of Asheville; see directions and Googlemap below. Do not rely on your GPS until you make sure it matches these directions or you will very likely get lost. Also keep in mind that once you leave the interstate, you will probably NOT have cell phone signal. You may not have GPS reception either. So make sure you print or save these directions beforehand and follow them precisely.
These directions are from central Asheville, specifically, from Greenlife Grocery (our local Whole Foods). We recommend buying snacks or even a picnic lunch for after the tour, as well as “using the facilities” while you’re there.
Finally, remember that if you’re planning to bring some of our “catch of the day” to one of our partner restaurants, you MUST make a special reservation (see here). See you in the woods!

Head south on Merrimon Ave towards Orange Street. Take the 19N/23N/I-26W ramp towards Weaverville, merge onto 26W. In 6.3 miles, take exit 19A to merge onto 25N/70W towards Marshall.
Continue on 25/70 for about 21 miles towards Hot Springs. You will see a sign for ʺHot Springs – turn left.” The parking area for the Laurel River Trail will be immediately on the left following the sign. Do not take the left hand turn onto route 70. If you pass the intersection, you have gone too far. Your guide will meet you in the parking lot.
