IF YOU USE GPS, MAKE SURE IT GOES TO THIS LOCATION.
Also make sure you have enough time to get there.
Our outing will be at Foster Creek, about 30 minutes (barring traffic) south of downtown Asheville; see directions and Googlemap below. Do not rely on your GPS until you make sure it matches these directions or you will very likely get lost. Also keep in mind that once you leave the interstate, you will probably NOT have cell phone signal. You may not have GPS reception either. So make sure you print or save these directions beforehand and follow them precisely.
These directions are from central Asheville, specifically, from Greenlife Grocery (our local Whole Foods). We recommend buying snacks or even a picnic lunch for after the tour, as well as “using the facilities” while you’re there.
Finally, remember that if you’re planning to bring some of our “catch of the day” to one of our partner restaurants, you MUST make a special reservation (see here). See you in the woods!
You can try plugging in 1199 Foster Creek Rd, Horse Shoe, NC, but make sure it’s correct!
Head south on Merrimon Avenue towards downtown for a tenth of a mile and get on I-240 West. In a third of a mile, take the exit for I-26 East.
In 14 miles, take exit 40 for NC 280: Asheville Road. Go right, passing the airport on your right, and continue for 3.8 miles, then at the Ingles market, turn right onto North Mills River Road.
Go 1.4 miles, turn right on Foster Creek Road. After 1.0 mile, veer left, enter the woods, and in .3 miles, arrive to the parking area at the end of the road, a woodland cul de sac.
See you in the woods!
