Our September catered dinner with chef Josh Dillard took place at the home of Jeanie Martin, President of The Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project and Founder of The Blue Ridge Naturalist Program, and her husband, ceramicist Paul Frehe. With views of the Riceville Valley and adjoining the Blue Ridge Parkway, their home is habitat for many rare Appalachian animals and plants. Accomodations at the home of herbalist Sandi Ford were just a block away. September is the peak of mushroom season; the local mushroom club held a conference that same weekend only ten minutes away, and one participant attended both events.
